| Currently, we are baking any PCB before process on SMT, the 'reason' is to dry any possible humidity that could be inner the PCB, it does not matter if the PCB is multilayer or not. We bake PCB's at 107C for 4 hrs and the board must be process into

Handling a PCB 1. Check your ESD slippers and ESD Strap first before entering the SMT production line 2. A PCB manufactred over 90 days must be stored first on the baking Oven before Production 3. Temperature on the Baking oven must be 125plus and m

So you passed a BARE board thru the oven and got solder balls?

We have 8 layer HASL PCB. We saw molten solder blobs / balls on op side of assembled PCB. (to check, if this was a bare board problem), We passed bare board as received thru, SMT reflow oven and saw solder balls on top side of board. What could be th

solder ball was caused by hasl process not reflow. seen before many times, look around wells of smt on bare boards should be more of them

jerry this is what i wanted to hear 'real' measurements. I did not want to make the tooling strip too wide as that would add to the cost of the bare board. thank mickd

It depends on the laminate but a PWB is like any other MSL component. Some fab shops are only waranting standard FR4 laminates for 45-60 days when processed at lead free temperatures. The best thing I can say is to try some weight gain/loss experim

Good Morning WS, If you experieced the solder balls after reflow of a bare board through the oven, then the source of the solder is either the oven or the board. I have had boards with untented via's that were HASL'd that had entrapped solder and fl

thank you both for the input ok so i understand the hole is on a 5mmx5mm center the pin seems to be 3mm. About 3mm of the board goes under the clamp rail so the tooling strip must be wider than 5mm as the fiducial also needs to be on it. Mark_m yo
