Are you running a no clean process, or are you washing your PCBs? One caveat with ENIG is sometimes washing with hot DI water can effect solderability later on. I would also talk to your solder technicians and see what their preference is. Some pr

Thanks for the info. In a past life I ran everything WS and washed in a batch wash using saponifier. I'm surprised I never saw anything then as we would regularly wash boards assembled on only one side. Unless it's specifically washing in DI only.

In both cases, it will depend on storage conditions, unless you do something horrible to them (or as previously mentioned, wash them) months & months. For boards we put through SMT and then stash for THT loading in smaller qty's I don't think we've e

http://www.circuitnet.com/news/uploads/3/Comparing-Soldering-Results-of-ENIG-and-EPIG-Post-Steam-Exposure.pdf Years ago, I battled this problem. ENIG PCBs reflowed with active WS flux. We built one side, and then washed them because they were going

With friends like you, who needs enemies? Id guess that the perceived benefits of flat pads for your 20 mil pitch and below components counter-balance the higher cost, gold being a solder pot contaminant, limited solder mask compatibility, potentia

Hi, Our engineering board has to decide which technology is better for the hand soldering of the SMT components: HASL or Chemical Ni-Au. We have an automatic line for SMD assembling and our experience shows us that for this automatic line is better

We would benchmark our times with the most experienced operator and them boost the time by 1/3. Example: If it takes Mary 3sec to insert the component, 3 secs to clinch and cut the leads (it is not advised to cut the leads after soldering), and 8 sec

Hello, Does any one as a database regarding component assemble by hand on a PCB. More accuratelly how much time (per sec) does it take to bend leads on a component(res), time to insert the component by hand, time to solder by hand. Any time base dat

I agree with Dave. The only reliable way is to perform a time study using a watch with decimal minutes. Setup the study using an average rated operator and time 10 component insertions (from pick up to hands off), time 10 component soldering operati

NEED HELP!!! I am getting solder splatters on my panels. We produce 100's of different kinds of product and this is the only one that is leaving solder splatters all over the masking. It is however the first time we have used 40 pin QFN's. I don't th
