IPC announces unanimous ballot approval of IPC-2591, Connected Factory Exchange (CFX) by the 2-17 Connected Factory Initiative Subcommittee. The electronics industry now has an industry standard it can use to quickly and easily implement Industry 4.0 in its manufacturing operations. IPC plans to release this free and open standard to industry in the weeks ahead.

On Monday, President Obama released his Fiscal Year 2016 Budget of the U.S. Government. Included in the budget is funding to expand the National Network of Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) as well as a 5.5 percent increase from 2015 of $146 billion for research and development (R&D) initiatives. “IPC applauds the President for his commitment to grow advanced manufacturing and increase federal R&D investment, both of which are a critical part of IPC’s Global Policy Framework for 2015,” said John Mitchell, IPC President and CEO.

IPC bestowed its highest corporate honors to DDi Corp. and Flextronics. During luncheons held in conjunction with IPC APEX EXPO®, IPC awarded the IPC Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award to DDi Corp. and the IPC Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award to Flextronics. For many years, both DDi Corp. and Flextronics have consistently provided staff resources to standards development and other committee initiatives.
