The major profiler companies [ie, KIC, ECD, etc] give away FREE Excel spread sheets that list everyone's oven and paste and allow you to input board characteristics and then it suggests a profile. Go get one.

Hello All, Having a problem during reflow and would like your opinions. We are using Kester r562 water soluble paste and I am using a Kic 2000 profiler in a 4 zone oven (top only). We are seeing poor wetting or fillets that are not "passable" per IPC

For the reflow process check out KIC THERMAL at kicthermal.com. They make a product called 24/7 which can collects data for process capability. I beta tested the unit about 2 years ago....interesting stuff.

Check with your temperature profile equipment supplier [eg, KIC, ECD, etc]. We use a download from ECD that lists most ovens and solder pastes that make it [or one like from another supplier] a good place to start.

KIC Thermal Profiling also sells the double - sided aluminum tape. They also did a white paper characterizing the material... Good stuff.
