I have done this for the Datapaq and it worked well. The SlimKic uses a yellow thermal blanket material. It is called Pyropel. You can get it at McMasterCarr. I think McMasterCarr calls it polyimid foam insulation part number 93015K64 of 3/16 thi

Thanks to all. I have it straightened out. We were running too hot and too fast and too long of a reflow time. I am running with Kic2000 and it works great. Thanks for all your input.

So just to clarify.... If i bought a KIC 2000 I could run that one unit over both my waves and through both my ovens (leaded and lead-free)? Or would I need additional equipment to use it on the wave?

Hey CK: I do not know who makes the "orange cover that goes over a WinKic datalogger". Maybe someone at KIC can give you a source. Further, John makes good points. Have you talked to your power brick whatever supplier? Alternately, consider usin

I've used ECD's WaveRIDER and TIC's Wave Optimizer, and some people have sworn by Malcom's wave reader as well (if you look at all the past threads). We HAD an optimizer here in our shop, but somebody bwoke it. :-( As for evaluating these, see Chu

Hi, I would immediately go out and purchase a profiler as you will save the cost of it on rework savings. We use a SlimKIC, and the software with it's so good it will let you adjust the oven temps to make your profile fit your paste specifications

The Optimizer can be run through your wave like a regular board. It measures temps, times and parallelism of your waves in relationship to your board (pot to conveyor). Run the Optimizer till you get you temps, times and are parallel to your waves.

I made my own wave measuring device using KIC2000 system. KIC2000 has automatic wave detection, so now I have a profiler for both reflow ovens and wave solder. The delmat carrier only cost $500. A guy, Samir, from this forum gave me the idea, actu

Hello All, Having a problem during reflow and would like your opinions. We are using Kester r562 water soluble paste and I am using a Kic 2000 profiler in a 4 zone oven (top only). We are seeing poor wetting or fillets that are not "passable" per IPC

Smartasp, Certain software packages used with Reflow Profilers have a tab where individual TC's can be set to a different spec. This will allow you to monitor package temps while still monitoring the solder paste specifications. You can define each
