Yes Rob, I would like to know the type of metal finisching like JST097 or IPC-1066 or IEC .... suggest to do. I would like to avoid i.e. to get Bismuth finish on components terminals that I still have to solder with alloy containing Pb. Also to ha

"The only real problem we're seeing is some suppliers trying to use bismuth. That's a big no-no in a SnPb process and we won't accept those parts." Yes and no. Since the SnPbBi tertiary alloy melts at 96 degC, any product rated for storage above tha

I agree you are too cold for the profile get it up to 230C and possibly allow it to dwell a little longer in preheat as opposed to pushing up the reflow zone only. Sn90/Pb10 melts at 220C so 2C hotter than your profile so you are reliant on it alloyi

Here's a (427 page) EPA report on Solders in Electronics: A Life-Cycle Assessment http://www.epa.gov/opptintr/dfe/pubs/solder/lca/lfs-lca-final.pdf If you look at page ES-16/table ES-4 and ES-5 it appears that SAC alloys have a higher impact on the

Hello What type of error proofing methods are you guys using to prevent operators from using lead paste on a PB free application?

Who is your stencil vendor? I've used three different vendors for Pb-free green frame stencils and NONE of them charged extra.

Today's regular Sn-Pb paste chemistries are designed to run at higher peak temperatures ensuring that your lead-free alloys will coalesce with your regular Sn-Pb solder. That being said, it is do-able to solder both types in one oven. Generally, wit

Ive stayed out of the lead-free discussions as much as possible. But its great to note that someone (Mike) suggests a different color.
