IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries® launched a “fast facts” survey today to assess the current state of the supply chain for military electronics suppliers and the issues surrounding the trend toward lead-free electronics. Today, IPC issued a blog post in support of the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) provisions that would bolster the resiliency and security of the electronics manufacturing ecosystem, including printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA), the green-and-gold hardwiring at the core of all electronics systems. These provisions, approved in both the U.S. House and Senate, aim to improve the security of electronics purchased by the Defense Department.

A preliminary survey in IPC’s new Pulse of the Electronics Industry global data service reveals a bullish outlook for most segments of the electronics industry, especially for equipment manufacturers and PCB fabricators. These industry segments showed the highest levels of confidence in the direction of current-state indicators. The IPC Education Foundation was formally launched during IPC APEX EXPO 2019. As part of that launch, the Foundation committed to starting scholarship programs to raise awareness and reward educators and students that have interest in the electronics industry and the engineering disciplines. On March 4, 2019, the first two of these scholarship programs were opened to eligible participants.
