How are you sepatating your boards out of the panel? If you are flexing them to break the V-score, this could be what is causing the resistors to crack.

Travis H: Are both pads of the component the same distance [0.088"] from the edge of the board?

We had a problem with 1825's close to the edge which were being sheared when the breakaways were flexed and removed manually, the resolution was to get a de-panelizer which eliminated the problem we were having.

Yes, both pads are the same distance from the edge. I also included a picture of a cracked part. Thanks,

This might sound stupid but... We had a similar issue and the solution was depaneling the panel upside down. Take this advice at your own risk...

Maybe the V-Score is not deep enough? I am used to seeing more like a 30% remaining web, you are closer to 50% 'hege

Can you cut v-scores deeper to resolve the issue then build carriers to support the panel? I would say that we usually build carriers for anything that thin regarless of the depanel method.

We had a similar problem once, it was due to insufficient v-score depth. While waiting for remade PCBs we would run an exacto knife along the score lines prior to depanel to cut a little deeper. Not ideal for sure, and not fast, but it worked.

Deepening the V-scores was in vain. No change. This board is on Rev R now, with no changes to material/array/v-score spec, and this is the first we've seen this problem. I just don't get it.

We have a small board about 1" by .5" and it is .012" thick. It is in a 50 up panel. We have tried rat bites and v-score and we keep seeing delamination around the edges. Anyone have experience depaneling boards this thin?
