Be careful of MSL level 4 or higher devices on the first side. if they sit out 3 days, they will need to be baked before second side reflow or you risk component damage.

Reducing Warp after reflow

If you are running resonable volumes of the board, redesign it with equal copper on both sides. One way of achieving this is to just run copper flood planes on both sides of the board, this is a fairly common technique in RF and noise sensitive analo

Exsessive assembly cleaning

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 08 18:29:36 EDT 2023 | emeto

Hello folks, is there a standard you follow for maximum cleaning cycles? We are debating how many times we should clean a board for misprints on the second manufacturing side? First side is already assembled and I wonder how many times we can safely

Very good questions Bob Given the fact that my company is a manufacturer of batch cleaning equipment, I will speak more in general terms rather than in specific terms. There are several criteria used in the evaluation of batch aqueous cleaning sys

double sided reflow

We are going to try double sided reflow for the first time. Can we use the same 63/37 paste on both sides? The board also has bare copper pads i'm pretty sure. will this present any challenges? The bottom side has a QFP on it. Should it stay on?

Rich: Now thats a great question!!! Youre corrrect. Primary-side temperature is the driver of the differences in the sensitivity to moisture between SMT and PTH devices that youre finding. * Primary-side temperature for SMT ~= Secondary-side te

Edmund, I agree with Wolfgang there is no reason for 0603s to be falling from the bottom side during the top side reflow. I assume what you are having problems with is a higher mass component like a large tantalum, inductor, or perhaps an active de
