I do not see anything obvious that would cause a thermal mis match. Regarding reflow profiles reducing tombstoning, Unless there is something wrong with your paste or you are running smaller than 0402's, I have NEVER seen a reflow profile reduce tom

From the picture you present, it is a pin in paste part with pin length 2.2mm (a good length for 1.6mm PCB thickness), and seems the pin tilted and touch on PCB surface, thus causes up-part. Sorry I cannot image pin tilted not before placement but i

Yeo, These are possible rootcause of that defect and you can evaluate. 1. Orientation of the capacitor, maybe the cap is located behind big component. 2. Reflow profile, check the profile on that side. 3. Yes, check also the mounting force. Philip

We use a universal recipe for 90% of our products. But, I had to develop a temperature profile for each PCB to know that I was getting the correct temperature at the PCB. You may need to work a weekend or a couple of late nights to get the data. Go

Myu: Did you have to change your reflow profiles when you changed from 609 to 709? What ramp rate & time over liquidus are your profiles at?

Thanks Grant. I have Heller 1707 and it has built in thermal profiler. As a start up We won't be able to buy kic, but I have used in past and it is great.

That is what I was looking for. The profiles did not make much sense to me. We are getting alot of cold solder joints or bumpy solder joints.

Well that Genius did it on this BGA. It does have a heatsink and absorbs alot of heat. It just stinks because the BGA cost over 1000 and I really can not scrap a board. But that first profile does not look correct for this board with the BGA esp.

At the top of the page "search forum". Just type in "slim Kic". How is the "Old school profiling done"? Just curious. good luck, pr

What are the "incredible" differences? I am curious, I also profile old school and have not found value in "prediction" yet either. Russ
