Can you give a few more details about what solder you are using and your tinning flux? Also, are you using a Nitrogen generator or a cryogenic?

The aluminum material is typically plated by a zincation process, followed by nickel plate and a gold flash layer. What do the soldered side of the component and the soldered side of the aluminum coin look like? Do they both take solder?

Thank you, it seems to be an high scrap %. I think that this % depends on the size of the component (machine loss), on the lot size (new lot set up loss) and on the number of components per reel (new reel set up loss). What do you think abot this?

Hi all, I would like some recommendations on what machines are best suited to Automated Insertion of plated through hole LEDs. I am sure there are plenty of pitfalls associated with this type of process aswell, so if you could share these aswell.

What about thermal cycling and/or vibration over the long term? My guess is that with the voids the joint would not be as reliable long term as a joint without the void. Am I thinking correctly?
