My company is an CM we are looking into refining our processes for BGA in our production line. Do you know where to obtain samples for process refinement in Australia. Scrap BGA Components and PCB's will be suitable.

I am looking for a piece of equipement that can safely remove silicon die(200mil by 200mils) from a LTCC board. My present method involves a dental drill which often goes through the dielectric layers and causes scrap.

Is there a good way to dispose of above subject? I don't think we can just pitch 'em 'cause they have lead on the pads. There has to be somebody that can grind 'em up or something. Maybe we could even make a little $? Thanks all. Ryan

Well assuming that the parts are genuinely damaged when rejected and you want to rework them to reduce scrap, you could use a shadow graph and get the mechanical spec on clear film. Then rework accordingly you should be able to rework most leads.

Defect rate is a variable that is hard to evaluate from company to company. Look into solid solder deposit which will eliminate smd scrap/defects all together, no matter who assembles it. http://www.sipad.com mk

Hey Russell. The boys at Air-Vac Engineering can help you solve your problem. Are you using an DRS system. If not, you are probably out of luck and should scrap the boards. Cheers!

This might be a trival mundane suggestion but try to use non conductive plate to hold components. Probably even made of the pallet material. I am sure your pallet fabricator will have tons of scrap and he can help you find one. T

We have not found a way to rework boards successfully at this time. Boards with severe black pad get scrapped.

What types of systems/procedures are normally used or followed to allow for scrap percentages typically from a 43,000cph placement machine.
