You can put metal in a microwave (at least you can mine) as long as it doesn't contact the enclosure, but there's no way you'll get consistent heating of the volume in a microwave, even if it employs a "carousel".

Solder Paste Inspection

Hi, as for IPC-7095, in case of BGA, other important value to inspect/measure (3D) is the volume of paste deposit, mainly when mounting Ceramic BGAs. Regards...GS

We use a dual pot ERSA system. It is outstanding. Saved about 3000 hours of labor a month. Very expensive but worth it. We also looked at JUKI it was also a nice system. It was very flexible but the ERSA was better suited for high volume.

Pattern design, paste volume, printing misalignment, place misalignment, reflow process include N2 usage. All the factor above can make tombstome happen. And the most important factor is placement misalignment except design issue. But pls check the sol

One factor I see missing is separation speed (or snap off speed). I've run experiments with different pastes where it was the biggest factor in standard deviation of print volume for small apertures.

I need an Oven

As a solder paste supplier I have profiled lots of different makes of ovens. I really like the Heller 1707. I have several customers who do lead free mid volume assembly with these ovens. They also seem to give shiny lead free joints.

We are using an Asscon VP800 with Galden LS230 fluid. This is a batch machine but is working well in our high mix-low volume environment.

Isolating QFN Ground

We avoid kapton in this situation due to the thickness. 1 mil additional thickness can equal up to a 20% increase in paste volume at adjacent pads if you are using a 5 mil stencil. But then again, that is not always bad. But must be taken into consid
