KRIKIES! tenting WILL inhibit solder flow through the top-side me lad. In the meantime, me chap, have you tried to adjust wave parameters? i've read threads here that a vibrating wave will tend to push solder up through holes.

I would choose wave over hand solder. Top side wetting due to thermal mass will be your biggest obstacle. Of course I don't know the size of your soldering irons or how weak your wave may be.....

Yea wave is prob best but you still might have issues depending on the hole size in the board and if you have some kick a$$ top side preheating...

Interesting. We are placing a camera that the marking is on the bottom..... No place to put it on top! The problem with the question is the word shall! I think the answer to the question is yes there is a standard but..... no law to enforce it....jus

Is it a good investment to keep machine over ten years old or maybe even older? My job is to keep these machine in tip top shape but very little money to spend on parts. Which is better buying spare part or buying new machine?

Yes, it is. there's a heat sensor under of 4 resister, look like it open now.I'm thinking to make a jumper right there to see it can power up the machine.(this's a little green box on top of the transformer)

Charlie, The EKRA printer is not a bad choice if you are just trying to upgrade from a table top unit. The DEK is much better and would be money well spent.

Interesting report Pat. But to play Devils Advocate (as I have seemed to become on this site) is there a report from the top notch, been there done that, government officials that can say no-lead has made the world a better place?

We run a high mix/low-medium volume smt line with MPM SPM stencil printer, MyData pick-n-place machine and a Heller reflow oven. That combination is working well for us.
