Anyone know of a paste supplier that can provide the 42Sn/1Ag/57Bi alloy? Supposedly HP has done some work with this specific alloy and we would like to evaluate it. Neither Alpha Metals or Kester can supply it.

Kester has a special alloy for high temp soldering. Alloy 123. I would think that if you coocked 63/37 to 360c you would have a pot of dross in no time! Doug

Does alloy 42 lead frame on a QFP100 make lack of coplanarity (let's say 2 mils), a critical factor to have non-wetted leads? Lead coating is tin lead 90/10. afm

This is a perculiar alloy. Usually, the portions of each metal in the alloy sum to 100. Yours sums to 98. Could you be seeking 93.5Pb 5Sn 1.5Ag? It is more available.
