Touch-up and Inspection Process

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 01 10:55:07 EST 2005 | spot

A lot depends on the complexity of the board/process as well as the amount of placements. If the board has few placements and the parts are not smaller that 0805 then doing all the rework after completion is ok. The human eye can only pick out obvi

We do use a company for custom fixtures, but we also make some in house. The biggest hurdle for a board that requires a fixture to go through printing and SMT is that the board has to be the tallest thing. So any hold downs or locating hardware has

MPM Up2000 and SMEMA

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 12 09:26:00 EDT 2016 | awhite

Our MPM Up2000 HIE is having a communication problem with any upstream machine we place in front of it...i.e. conveyor, board loader, etc. It all started when we removed a conveyor from inbetween it and a board loader, and hooked those machines up di

PCB Thickness and BLR

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 03 13:26:32 EDT 2019 | az2019

Hi, I have a general question about the relationship of PCB thickness and BLR testing result. For example, I have QFN6x6 parts mounted on board in 1.2mm, 1.6mm, and 2.4mm thickness. All boards have 6 layers of Cu. Studies show thicker board gives les

BGA and Gold Boards

Has anyone had experience with placing BGA on gold plated boards. I thought I read a while ago there was a problem with embrittlment causing cracked joints. If anyone has experience with this your feedback would be great. Mike

PCB Thickness and BLR

Typically, the reliability of PCBs suffers significantly due to the increase in aspect ratio. It is not preferred to opt for high thickness boards. However, I would like to point out that your assumption seems to be wrong as board layers do not direc

Flexi boards and uBGA

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 06 13:36:37 EDT 2006 | SWAG

We've had much trouble with flex circuits. As previously mentioned, you must have local fids for the board or the BGA itself (if panelized). Other troubles we experience are drilled holes for pinned connectors. Unless the PCB manufactur has some w

Flexi boards and uBGA

Electronics Forum | Fri Jul 07 03:27:31 EDT 2006 | dougs

Hi folks, thanks for all the tips. We have run our first batch of these flexi boards now. I had the PCB suppliers make me some 1.6mm FR4 carriers to lay the boards on to carry them through the process. (1 flat & 1 with cutouts for the second side)

Thanks folks. The current vendor is doing an alcohol wash, top and bottom, then performing an ionic test on 100 boards. I'm not to confident in the testing because the readings for a "clean" board are 25 ugm/sq in and a "dirty" board are 40 ugm/sq in
