Electronics Forum | Tue Nov 22 11:06:23 EST 2005 | moonshine

Now here's a real intelligent guy who obviously needs no help no matter if it's free or not. Must be one darn good engineer, or not. I'm impressed. Earl Moon and I'm free too.

Copper thickness measurement

Electronics Forum | Sat Dec 10 07:03:59 EST 2005 | mdemos1

Hi. I am trying to find out the minimum copper thickness I should see on a through hole barrel. The board has 1 ounce copper and the board thickness is 0.062". I am finding thicknesses of 0.6 to 1.2 mils. Thanks, Mike.

Wave Solder Issue or maybe not?

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 28 21:15:08 EST 2006 | davef

Questions are: * What is the scale and scope of the problem? * What does the unfilled portion of the barrel look like? * What class of flux is your solder paste?

Counterbore raw board

Well, you won't win any IPC awards for doing this. Another idea is to use a center punch to create the dimple you need. It wouls be quicker and you won't destroy the barrel like you will with a drill. Don't ask me how I know.

Steve, You almost got yout Man Card revoked for stating: "determining the risks associated with simultaneously applying compressive and rotational forces to the end of the barrel". Luckily you bounced back with "chewing up the copper". Just pokin
