Hi all, We have a PCB without any BGAs on it which goes into harsh environment. We therefore conformal coat it. After assembly the PCBs are expected to withstand "85degc/85%RH for 1000 hours" We now want to add a BGA to the PCB. Does any one have

When conformal coating a PCB, when it comes to components such as alum caps, if no keep-out specified for SMT, would you recommend coating the entire component, or would you only coat the bottom portion (where conductors/leads are present) Moreover,

we are worried about the coating not being able to cover underneath the BGA. If the coat is excessive then it would cause CTE issues. Also if anybody has data on 85/85, 1000 hrs after conformal coating of BGA, would appreciate if you guys can share

In HASL pcb coating you need to fully coat the pads with solder and then blow off any excess solder to leave a nice coating on each pad. Generally pcb manufacturers try to give you a flat pcb pad to make your solder paste printing more consistent. To

we have a Specialty coating system (SCS) precisoncoat spray coating system. we are using an acrylic coating material with about 80cp viscosity. The spraying pressure is around 4-6 psi. The main issue is the finish looking of the board. If we apply hi

How does one keep a pcb safe from ESD when applying an aerosol conformal coating on a flat surface? Even if you had an ESD mat to place the pcb on it would quickly be coated. The only thing I can think of is an ionizer. Does not the aerosol create a

Any good advice on techniques to properly coat BGA devices on a PCB? Our preference is to spray the boards but I wonder if the coating will do much good. Thanks Jim

How are you removing the remnant cured coating materials once you scrape. laser ablate or use walnut shells to blast coating material from a PCB? We are using a soft bristled brush or a vacuum source. What about liquids such as cleaning solutions o

Underfills could improve reliability. If you pick materials right, you could co-cure and underfill and coating.
