Mix Pb and Pb free alloy

John, there have been quite a few discussion on Mixed Assemblies in this forum.. do a search.. you will get whole lot of information.. in addition - IF you are using Lead-free reflow profile...make sure the rated temp for Sn-Pb components is not vi

Mixing No-clean and water soluble processes

I apologize for being so vague. It is a standard leaded process using ALPHA OM-5100 for the SMT. So would a reduction in wash temp result in less white residue?

Thank you all very much for the responses. The solder is eutectic and the problem, as far as I can tell, has been around before I was here, 2+ years. The flow machine is a treiber with 2 bottom preheaters and 1 top. The solder pot temp is 500F +/-4F

High Temp Solders and their use

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 23 19:01:54 EDT 2000 | kbmacg

For high temperature electronics, operating in 225C ambient environments, most solders can not be used. The high-lead solders all have difficulties of one sort or another. Is their anything new regarding useful high melting point solders? Especially

Steve, I agree with the recommendation to check the temperature. This is the first place to go. Is this an IPA or water based Noclean? What is the topside temp of the assembly at the effected areas? If you are too cold you will have a tendency to hav

Lead Free and Leaded Process Mix

Francisco, You need to be concerned about "lead-free" BGAs. The SAC balls will not reflow at at standard tin-lead process temps. I have seen many examples where this has been a very big problem. In once case the BGAs just poped-off when the board was

Inds, It's about time that lead-free components can stand higher temps "myth" stops. The only difference is the plating, the component itself has not changed. Can you give us an update on this threat? If youre the same inds http://www.smtnet.com//

Have you tried higher peaktemp? I saw the QFP is sn90pb10, This has a liquidus of 268 - 302 C. A good paste should be able to handle 230C (or more), of course you would need to check your other components peak temp.

Mixing No-clean and water soluble processes

We use the OM-5100 and wash it with relatively good results. Just dont let it sit longer than a few days before wash. We've used Zestron AC200 and A-250 in a batch cleaner set to 140 wash temp for 8-10 min @ the recommended concentrations. We have h

Ceramic Column Grid Arrays and CBGAs
