If the tab is Sn plated, you can solder to it as long as your iron has enough power (watts). If you continue to have trouble then it probably isn't Sn plated.

There are many alloys of silver solder for higher temperatures mostly used in plumbing There are also alloys which are available in paste form used in the manufacture of hybrids. sarason

I've never heard of anyone affected by thiourea during assembly soldering operations. I believe the greatest concern of exposure to thiourea is during the board fabrication process. BR ... davef

Your bottom-side joints look deficient in solder. It appears that less than 50% of the land area is soldered.

If at all possible, you definately want solder mask defined pads. Without it, you will struggle with solder bridging. This is especially important if you have a larger size board.

I have used glass marbles. I'm not excited about the prospect of you putting metals into your solder pad because of the corrosiveness of tin.

Thanks for the comments, I will take the rocks out of my head, throw in a little lead from my ___ and save some $ on solder........... Seriously, will look into some of these ideas, or some iron weights/slabs from metal store P

Carl, You can use a high temp solder to connect your T/C's but we use Kapton or glass tape so the T/C's can be reused. Mac

Thank you mac. May I know what t/C's your using? Do you have any recommended High temp solder that we can buy? We already use Kapton, but it affects the curved on our profile data.
