IP3 Lock-Up

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 24 12:48:45 EST 2000 | Larry Johnson

I have seen this problem several times on several different IP3's... When the MTU is about to pick a part from the tray, the machine will just stop. No error, just says, "producting", in green. E-stop, reset and start again, and you hear air from

Re: BGA SOLDER BALL to SURFACE PAD size relationship

Robert: Ah, opinions are like mothers, everyone has one. Here's mine: 1 Goto the Altera site, get a copy of "AN 114," follow it. Generally, manufacturers are closer to the requirements of their components than others are. 2 Metal showing on the b

Re: Cleaning No-Clean Paste??

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 25 14:34:44 EST 2000 | Ioan

Larry, the best paste thinner is the one that your paste supplier recommends. You should check with him. We have no problems removing the no-clean paste with alcohol. If you want to give it a try, make sure you use IP alcohol, not alcohol based flux

Re: Solder Mask Defined Pads

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 23 21:24:42 EST 2000 | Dave F

Chris: Whatever way you decide to define your pads, use the same type on the component and the board. Non-solder mask defined pad advantages: No point-of-stress concentration at edge mask and solder ball No CTE mismatch at edge mask and solder

Re: Paste Dispensing

John, I'll try to take a crack at it. We manufacture our own boards, and have a high mix. We currently have BOTH a Camalot 2800 Dispenser and a DEK 260 Screen printer. We use the camalot for glue applications, and prototype paste. We use the printe

Stencil printers, what's really out there?

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 22 13:58:15 EST 2000 | Steve Thomas

I'm looking at stencil printers, particularly those that can produce good repeatable prints on finepitch boards with minimal setup and training. I would love to find a printer that does auto x-y-theta alignment (would like a system that aligns sten

Steve, I'd stop worrying about the in-line feature of the printer, I've never really seen an in-line system that wasn't capable of batch operation and there will be very little, if any, cost saving associated with going batch load only. An in-line m

ICT information needed

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 22 07:59:54 EST 2000 | Hany A. Salam

Hello friends: In a few weeks we will have to assemble PC motherboards. We decided to use to purchase an ICT for testing the semi assembled boards (I mean with only SMD components on). Would anyone kindly like to recommend a SPECIFIC brand or model

Re: Reliability of power module soldering

I'm not exactly sure of your problem...but I'll give it a shot. I assume the screw is on the solder side of the board. If you wave solder the screw the head will fill in with solder. Try a water solouble mask or peelable laytex mask over the screw

Call Ken Gribble at (408) 383-0704. He is the SRT Rep. for the San Jose, CA area. I just purchased an SRT from him about 6 months ago. SRT is top of the line. I haven't heard of the model you referenced. You want to make sure that your not gettin
