All: All you using a nitrogen atmospheres with your lead-free waves? If not, why not, as I would think this might have benefits vis a vis reducing dross.

It has benefits for solderability too, but costs rather a lot of money to convert your machine & you have to buy in nitrogen on a regular basis (unless you have a generator).

Regarding the issue of using a pick-up offset: I really can't see any benefit to this if the pockets in the tape are too large, since this means that you cannot be sure that the components always end up in the same position when the feeder indexes.

It goes to show, EVERYONE (Equipment OEM's, solder paste, flux, wick, etc) is benefitting from this Lead-Free legislation. It's even created jobs in the US, and has taught many a Process Engineer the basics of soldering and profiling.
