Contaminants after SMT which affect wire bonding

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 05 16:04:00 EDT 2006 | GS

I am not expert, just my comment, the total ionic contamination allowed after SMT, by using No Clean process, theoretically it should be close to Zero. Any way the Standard IPC-JSTD-001 allows 1,56 ugr NaCl/cm2 for the final Printed Board assembled.

Re: 5 micrograms

5 micrograms per sq. cm. is actually not too clean. The maximum military allowed post-clean, on-board contamination is 5.7 micrograms of NaCl /cm squared (when using the Zero-Ion brand ionic contamination tester). We are use to seeing cleanliness re

Monitoring Cleanliness of No-clean Assembly

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 26 17:40:21 EDT 2003 | Steve

Wanted to inquire if anyone has a way to monitor cleanliness of boards that are assembled with a no-clean process. I'm aware that incoming board cleanliness can be monitored, however, I am after checking of cleanliness of boards after assembly. Wit

Yes Ion Chromatography can when using a isolated extraction system called the C3 tester. Please email me or call of-line and we can show you what we have done for others to not only idendity the flux cleanliness levels but to qualify the cleaning pr

It has been our experience that Spallation Neutron Source units are definitely a problematic area. But...we have just recently found that if you tweak the trim characteristics on the hydrogen assimilation unit, ion pacification can truly be achieved

There is distilled water and distilled water. It depends on the distallation process used. Using distilled water is fine, as long as it meets your standard. So, if you buy distilled water, get a written certification that conductivity is less than 1

Immersion of PWB

Hi, I wanna know if I immerse my fully populated PWB in a solution with 90% IPA and 10% De-ionized water at 80'C, will there be a problem or issue? Will my board or components be damaged? Will my PWM Mask peel off? What are the possible damage that

ROSE Test Instruments

Hi, Is there a standard expiry date for a ROSE Test Instrument Like Ionographs, Omega Meters, Zero-Ion etc.? How can I verify if my OmegaMeter 500 which is almost 20 years old is providing me reliable data during testing? Note that the equipment is

Hi, We will run a no-clean wave solder process to assemble TV boards. What about incorporating a ROSE Test equipment (Ionograph, zero-ion, Omega Meter) in the process? Is it recommended, helpful or unnecessary? Ive read about the use and limits of

We are using Alpha UP78, which has generally good SIR values. We are seeing current jump from around 6 micro amps to 60 micro amps in a very small percentage. This does not seem to be likely with just ions immediately after reflow. The current would
