I don't know where sulfur would get into your resistor supplier's process. Your processes are more likely candidates.

Well, the vendor claims the contaminant caused the component failures. So? The only feasible possibilities would be contaminated solder paste, wash water or coating -- or maybe the problem is due to defective resistors?

Does anybody have any data on the thermal resistance and thermal time constant of 0805 and 1206, metal film, surface mount resistors when mounted on a typical PC board? Even approximate informatin would be useful. Thanks in anticipation. Larry Hurst

There has been an increase in the number of defects regarding the solderability of resistor network arrays(pin opens specifically). Has anyone else experienced this? Also, does anyone have any FYI that they would like to share?

The Universal chipshooter (Sanyo) has automatic X-Y pick-up correction as standard. Are the upside-down resistors an issue for inspection purposes? Do you use AOI? Can you really read markings on 0402 resistors?

cap and resistor Parts are cheap! $10 vs. $20 or so? If you are worried about inventory cost than only buy your top 10 or so runners in the large reels. I am a big fan of large reels for the high running caps and Resistors.

You mean that you have to test each resistor that you produce? Because with a digital multimeter it is very easy to test resistors. Maybe I am not understanding you?
