| I recently had the opportunity to visit the vendor who is making my boards. On my trip I noticed that the guy who was in charge of the SMD placement machine (brand new Samsung) still had to manuallly place about 20%-40% of the parts after placement

Amy, One way you can drastically lower the peak temperature of your QFP and prevent it from re-melting is to lower the solder pot temperature. If you're running 63/37 in your pot, the typical range for these is 460F to around 500F. You will need

On TH parts we have been hand soldering. This last summer we purchased a Rhythm selective solder machine from RPS automation. I did a factory tour of both RPS and ACE since both facilities are about 1/2 mile from each other. In comparing the 2 c

solder, but flux -> adhesive. Hmmmmm.... Are the chemists working hard to reduce the consequences of these possibilities? And as to Dave's comment about long term reliability issues due to outgassing from the adhesive, double-hmmmmmmm....... Ther

Yes we are. They are considered the Cadillacs of spot solder - so they better work. But yes, we have never had a repeatability problem in 5 years.

Dyoungquist, As I know RPS is doing that equipment from a long time and ACE is actually formed by x employees from RTS. KISS 104 looks exactly the same as RPS Rythm. :) The point is that if you want to use wave soldering machine, adhesive will be

There is no "standard" or "procedure". Your customer is putting a requirement on you because this has probably lead to weak QFP solder joints breaking in the field or non-functioning units due to co-planar QFP legs. Ive been there done that. Had

Hi Steve, first you have to decide if you need adhesive or you can go with solder. Usually depends on the TH parts. Otherwise dispensing is always more problematic process than print. I would go with the printer and stay away from troubles. It is f
