No-Clean Wave Solder Process Control

Electronics Forum | Mon May 26 09:31:41 EDT 2008 | davef

What steps are taken in low residue wave soldering to assure the proper amount of flux is applied prior to soldering? * Too little flux can result in poor solder flow. * Too much flux can result in corrosive residues left on the board after soldering

99C solder

Electronics Forum | Wed Oct 01 10:01:15 EDT 2008 | davef

We've never used the 99*C lead-free solder you mention. We have used a leaded solder that can form a 93*C eutectic solder. So, we had to be sure the service temperature [of the solder connections] as below 80*C.

Solder Ball and Splash after Hand Soldering

Please explain "adhesion of soldering is not uniform at the tips (soldering ends)." For example: * Is the "tips (soldering ends)" the component leads? * What is the component? * What is the finish on the component? * What process is causing this issu

High Melting Point Solder Paste

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 24 04:23:49 EST 2009 | leeg

Has anyone had any experience of using High Melting Point Solder paste in production. We have started to trial some boards using the Solder Paste and are experiencing poor solder joints and solder joints that look grainy.

Solder Graping - What's this?

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 16 16:59:09 EDT 2010 | davef

Most often 'solder graping' refers to poor solder wetting, where the solder paste has partially melted, but has not coalesced or flowed. Sometimes this leaves the outline of the partially melted solder balls still visible, giving the appearance, to

Solder Joint Stress

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 02 19:54:04 EDT 2010 | davef

Here's one take on what you seem to be asking: * After a point, more solder is more stress than the proper amount of solder would produce. * Asymmetrical amounts of solder produce more stress than balanced amounts of solder would produce.

Mixing different manufacturers solder pastes

Yes, we use solder paste, solder bar and solder wire from different manufactureres for 1PCB assembly. And, what JAX said, we never mixed solder paste from different manufactures and used.
