Specialised SMT equipment-------------chip dispense head needed

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 11 13:00:00 EST 2002 | Roy Barton

I am looking for some equipment with a fairly undemanding capability. I would appreciate pointers to potential suppliers. Dispense size 0603 chips only, speed can be as low as 60 chips per minute. Only one type of component (ie one reel) is loaded.

BGA solderability / moisture

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 11 13:28:36 EST 2002 | stepheno

We have some BGA's that don't solder very well. They weren't properly stored in regards to moisture protection. The balls look dull and rough. After reflow there seemed to be a diffinate line between the balls and the solder on the PCB's. I think

How to reworking BGA

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 28 07:57:52 EST 2002 | caldon

Marcos- BGA's and soldering manually is difficult. Typically soldering BGAs requires reflow just as a reflow oven does, so I recommend a rework station. Go to http://www.empf.org/html/empfset.htm and download Jan 2002, Dec 2001, Sep 2001, Aug 2001,

Ovation Products (devision of Airline Hydraulics) makes a fixture just for Screen printing and PNP machines. This product is called grid lock. It's tooling that is air actuated and conforms to the bottom side of your PCB with gentle (gentle enough no

Thickness of solder paste from stencil

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 11 04:03:28 EDT 2002 | mwoodall

The Alpha metals Hi Check 500 is used to measure paste deposit thickness. The paste height is found from a micrometer reading determined by focussing a beam of light on a track adjacent to a paste deposit and then onto the solder paste. I've measure

Tenting via(s) under BGA & CSP?

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 11 19:06:59 EDT 2002 | tmarc

We are using 1mm pitch BGAs with a great quantity of via(s) under the component. Very shortly we will be placing CSPs with .65mm pitch. Our via(s) are solder masked, however we generally have a percentage of them that the masking is thin enough that

Flux residue effects on circuit performance?

Electronics Forum | Sun Apr 28 07:34:34 EDT 2002 | hany_khoga

Dear Tom : I hope I m not too late. We produce PC motherboards with some buses exceeding the speed of 100MHz . we use no clean flux and it is OK even with the residues you can see under a microscope. But according to our own experience through a mo

compactflash memory process requirements

Electronics Forum | Fri Apr 19 07:50:24 EDT 2002 | pjc

I used to build flash memory products for M-Systems. Up to 30,000 per week. Nothing special in the process for these boards. 1mm and 0.4mm thick std. FR4 PCBs are used. Double-Sided reflow. The 0.4mm thin boards require process carriers. Panelized 24

Hello Pete, Very true about the heel fillet. Looks like the pad at pcb has to be designed such that the pad should extend at heel but short at toe. About the encapsulation. I can understand the requirements. Can you provide me with a more detail proc
