Board in/out sensors on reflow machines, do they work well?

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 15 20:03:59 EDT 2002 | Jones

They work great as long as your conveyor speed has been calibrated and checked on some type of PM schedule. On some oven types these sensors can warn you to possible problems with the conveyor speed. Say the oven is calculating that the board is movi

How dangerous are the fumes from a reflow oven?

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 12 14:00:38 EDT 2019 | slthomas

While I agree that you need to see an MD ASAP, it might help your provider to actually know what you were breathing, and I would worry way less about the materials in the components than I would about the flux from the solder paste. Edited to add, a

reworking brds by flowing the board thru' oven for the 3rd times

Our process mostly are double sided reflow and we are using water soluble paste on ENTEK PCB. Rework WIP has been accumulated since the last 4 months, and upon clearing, one of the method that the test guy use are to reflow the PCB again for one mo

One very important consideration in your situation is to determine if you have moisture sensitive components on these boards. If you have any device classified level 3 or higher then you have a very high level of risk associated with moisture sensit

Bottom side SMT wave vs. top side reflow yields

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 29 20:00:32 EDT 2002 | iceman

Steve, I agree, you should expect to have better results from double sided reflow. It is more difficult to dial in a wave solder process for SMT components than a reflow oven. Besides that - adhesive is just no fun to work with.

Connector is falling down in the second reflow

We can't do that because we are using dual ligne reflow oven..So the two sides of PCB are soldered with the same reflow profil.

Industry Standards for distance of PCB's in reflow oven???

It can also depend on the board. A board with 160 through hole BNC's requires more spacing than most boards.

What is the rootcause for BGA Lifted PAD after reflow

Electronics Forum | Tue May 20 08:25:26 EDT 2008 | davef

Well something is different isn't it? * Paste * Part supplier * Board fabrication * Was the profile that you reference the measured temperature or the the settings keyed into the oven? The cross sections seem to show less than expected ball collapse

Time and temp in lead and lead-free reflow

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 28 11:31:42 EDT 2008 | blnorman

Ideal situation is get a technical rep from the solder paste supplier. They know their paste better, and should be able to work out a profile based on their paste and your oven. Again, a technical rep, not the sales guy.

How many times can a component go through reflow oven?

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 03 08:39:53 EDT 2009 | markhoch

I'd be more concerned with the pcb itself then I would be with standard SMT components. Are you using a PCB with a high Tg? (170 degrees C or greater)
