smt rework

Electronics Forum | Wed Nov 15 15:51:21 EST 2006 | RJ K.

I have been looking into buying a rework station like ERSA or PDR. What I am questioning is how well will these systems reflow BGA's with metal top/cover that are reflective. In addition, when preheating the board would dark body packages absorb te

Do yo have to bake unused bare boards or just Vacuum Pack?

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 24 15:54:13 EDT 2006 | davef

It depends. What is: * Storage environment and period * Board laminate, epoxy, and copper thickness of PTH * Down stream process * Etc FR4 0.062" thick boards absorb between 0.08 to 0.1%Wt of moisture within a 24 hour period, and 0.2 to 0.23%Wt in

It's neccessary to dry PCBs?

Almost all boards are hydroscopic. In this, the epoxy holding the board together absorbs moisture. Almost all components are hydroscopic. In this, the epoxy encapsulating the component together absorbs moisture. So, as you heat the board / compon

Micro Solder Balls in No Clean Selective Solder Process

SORRY I did not offer a solution so here goes - The best way to get rid of this issue if you cant change flux is to reduce your flux consumption to a minimal with a spray flux and keep the heat REALLY high to boil off the alcohol before it can be abs

High Relative Humidity and Blistering Issues in Assembly

Hi All, I have been looking in to some failures of PCB's in Assembly. After SMT the boards are stored for different periods of time in high humity environment (72% RH and 21.4 degrees Celsius) before being sent to Assembly to be handsoldered/put thr

I don't believe there should be any issues with > the HASL finish. The issue is how long on the > shelf and is a bake out required to remove > moisture from PCB, as in any FR4 PCB's that may > have had time to absorb moisture. > I don't believe

Hi! Larry, absolutely "NO". When you move the component out from the refridgerator, the moisture will condensed to the surface. The Eureka Dry Box is different, it use special desicannt in the drying module to absorb the moisture inside the box and

Jason: Assuming you wantto reuse the TSOPs, two things come to mind: 1 Don't bend the leads. This can be caused by not melting the solder on all leads at the same time. 2 Don't break the body. This can be caused by moisure absorbed by the case ex
