We machine place the first part, then add two dots of dispensable solder paste to the top of the terminations, then hand place the second part on top of the first. Reflow. It works better than hand soldering after reflow. The solder paste is dispens

We've used PVA (Precision Valve Automation) for years. Programming is straight forward. Can do simple areas to more complex, depending on valve choices and complexity of what you need to spray. We use a standard pray valve as well as a syringe. We da

>*Changing paste >EricD: Yes we are considering that as a point. Because I believe the paste we are using are in syringe packaged and designed for dispensing. We are using an Indium SMQ75 paste and current application naturally is stencil printing.

Vacuum casting (same process used to make solid rocket motors) should remove any air from the paste. We had thought of pressurizing the tubes to remove the residual paste, but that would entrap air. The problem of tubes sitting out for different

I cannot give references to papers, etc, but I can tell you from experience that High Impedance circuits and High Power RF circuits are not something to try no-clean on. For an aerospace customer, I had a circuit that any residue left between two pa

Ralph, Typically our co-op students put down solder paste with a syringe, place the parts on the paste with tweezers, and then reflow the paste with a hot air pencil. This works pretty well when they are hand building prototypes. You can probably

I've faced this several times in the past, and the only real solution is to wirebond before SMT assembly. Everything leaves a residue, and trying to clean a residue off later is basically hopeless. This may require some trickery in your SMT process

I'm in North Attleboro, small world. To answer your question, you can deposit small dots of paste with a syringe. Kind of tricky work, and there are small stencil soluions out there fairly inexpensively. See http://www.minimicrostencil.com/ (I do

We are exploring ways to reduce the waste of solder paste. Here are some of the ideas I have in mind: 1) To use paste supplied in Syringe instead of jar. Paste that are opened more than 8 hours will normally be discarded, so we are looking for ways
