Lead free SAC solder paste on Sn63 HASL PCBs

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 07 15:48:22 EST 2015 | jacklucas

We switched our PCB's to 170Tg over 10 years ago, so we're probably good to go on the temperature aspect. Thanks for the opinion on the added lead content.

PCB bent due to mechanical force

Look up the glass transition temperature (Tg) for the PCB material. If you get the PCB above this temperature it will become quite soft. If it is a populated board remember to take any moisture sensitive devices on it into consideration.

Smt carrier hardware

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 29 13:11:31 EST 2024 | erikfriesen

I'd like to build my own carriers using tg fr4 as we have in house Cnc. Where can I find flush corner clamps? Or are these typically custom manufactured by individual carrier board manufacturers?

Gawd. Sure FR-4 will meet those conditions. Tg [check the fine SMTnet Archives for discussion on Tg] of FR-4 is 130F or so. Consider: * Is the delT between Tg and the upper operating [or storage] temperature acceptable for your application? * D

| Any info on the pros and cons of FR4 or Polyamide ref the use of soldering PGAs would be helpful. ie. temp co-efficient diffs, baking, wave soldering, Convection reflow etc | I'm sure you know all the basic differences as Tg, X, Y, and Z expansi

Hi erverybody: I am from a PCB shop. One of our product is with 19 X 19 ceramic BGA and my customer is experiencing 0.1 - 04 % failure of open trace on cornoer BGA pad. Substrate is FR4 with TG 135 degree C and delta Tg is well below 3 degree C. Tra

Maximum Time Above Tg for PWB

=130C as per IPC-4104/21 What will happen if I expose the PWB Assembly with components to a temperature of between 135'C to 152'C, which is above Tg, for 1 hour? Will there be delamination or possible damage to my PWB? What about with the rests of

Poor Solderability on TSOPs with Alloy 42 Leadframes

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 22 09:12:57 EDT 2005 | bsudak

Our manufacturing site has been struggling with soldering Alloy 42 TSOPs. Currently, we have to hand solder in one of our applications. Here are the particulars. Component: 54 leads, Sn plated, 400microinches +/-200. Process: Eutectic 63/37 Sn/Pb

delamination test

50% of seeing it in a single pass. The only time we do this is if we have a board off the line that has delaminated. We'll run a sample of boards through bare to confirm that we have a bad batch. Even if we see no failures on the bare boards, we'l
