Hi Steve, What type of flux? How do you apply it? What kind of wave? Rite off the cuff, I'd say you're applying too much flux, but without knowing a little more, it's tuff to say. It could even be board related. Hate to see what WML has to say

okay so both the 2005 formulas from interflux are clear alchol based fluxes. Yellow res huh? In looking at the temps here, I would say you might be too hot at both preheat and solder temp. You may be burning flux. How long is dwell time over wave

We have a customer enquiry that requires PCB assemblies to be cleaned to J-STD-001 / -004 class 3. We use both water based and no clean process chemistries. No clean flux residues are not permitted and would therefore have to be cleaned. My question

Assuming: * Customer board has been designed to provide for cleaning under components. * Cleaning equipment is capable. In meeting J-STD-001, your current cleaning equipment should be able to clean: * Water washable fluxes. * Low residue fluxes, pro

Choices are: * Buying a helmet. * Using a paste with low residue flux. Where are you located that you can use Triklone N [1,1,2-trichloroethene, CAS No: 79-01-6, C2HCl3]? As a solvent replacement for Triklone, several companies offer proprietary bl

Not really. A new Electrovert AquaStorm 100, in-line machine, is under $60K, for straight aqueous applications. The batch type from Aqueous Tech are like $35K I believe. $120K would be for a high performance in-line machine, such as the AquaStorm 200

Depending on the system you can program in a loop where if the board fails a contact to cycle the vacuum once or twice. it wears on the pins a little faster since you cycle 2 times (maybe more) per board but it could help increase the FPY. I know Gen

Flux drop in lead free process

Probably because the flux manufacturers have deemed it necessary to increase flux volume by 20 - 25% compared to Leaded this is why more is being left over. Really not convinced of this increase in volume actually does anything. Black residue will be
