I think your pre-heat temp is a little low for SAC 305 Soldering. Especially with a Pallet. You might want to try to add some time and temp to get the PWB itself preheated up to 150-160C. That should help with the barrel fill. Make sure your board

Maybe increased barrel fill? Raising pot temps slightly seems to increase barrel fill at selective solder, something we battle with.

If it was ROHS, I would say that the pads are definitely dissolved away. And it sounds like that is the case here. Your best bet is if it is class 2 and the barrels are at least 50% then push for them to be accepted. If you are trying for more barr

Thank you for the feed back. This is many times missing in the forum “how the problem got solved”. Patrick

Voiding, fracturing, barrel-fill, I'm sure there are some I'm missing.

Questions are: * You say 'voids', but you describe poor barrel fill. Are you seeing both? * Sometimes designers need to reduce the heatsink effect of large ground and power places, but this usually shows on the two upper corner pins, not all corners

What you have is blowholes. Baking your boards prior to soldering will help. Root cause is either barrel plating too thin or barrel cracks allowing laminate moisture to escape. Patrick

First, two points about hole / barrel fill are: * A filled hole is an excellent indicator of the optimum process and optimum quality PCB. * The study that showed that holes need not be filled was paid for by the US Army and performed by Lockheed in

Questions are: * Does the component take solder when you dip it in the solder pot to test the solderability of the leads? * Can you get full barrel fill when wave soldering a bare board? * Is your flux reaching the top of the board through the hole b
