Glenn: I hear you, but when Steve talks about a "dark haze" and "scrap(ing) the black stuff off the pads" to make them solderable, but I dont think of "black pad." I think of "black pad" as a surface coating that typically can not be removed by

Well after reading all kinds of stuff about this I still question if it is my current problem BUT, how common is this??? I dont want to be afraid of the boogie man but it seems like a lot of folks are having problems with black pad. I have used imers

I don't know how I ended-up reading a current trade journal, when I have a stack of intentions behind my desk a foot and a half tall, leaning like a paper Tower of Pisa threatening to avalanche itself onto the underfill materials study, a meager one

ENiG or IAg? Which is better?

Black pad with IAg??? Tarnish is NOT black pad. Tarnish is usually just some silver sulfide on the surface and can also usually be soldered through, by using a little additional, or slightly more agressive, flux, and still make a good quality solder

I don't believe I have ever seen a non-destructive test for "Black Pad" that I could take back to a Fab house and collect monetary losses with... But if this test method actually does hold merit then collect away. I would like to know how this metho

Folks, what is the industry consensus? Which is the more popular lead-free, flat finish these days? Here's what I know from my experience. IAg: 1. Quality of finish is dependent on supplier 2. Can NOT be reworked. It is known that reworking t
