Not sure how many inspections need to be done at 15 - 20sec total per board, but you may need to install multiple SPIs/AOIs to hit your takt time. Mike

Hi Bert, For your second issue, are the tools well lubricated? If not the Midas head can fail to grab the tool and can generate the z motor error. Doing this followed by a base-centre level measurement should resolve your problem. Steve

Has anyone heard whether the elevation of a plant can effect solder joint formation? One plant at sea level, one at 7,000 feet elevation... same equipment and profiles, big voiding defects at higher elevation. I did a search and found no similar post

Also check out the Rhythm from RPS. We have been using a Rhythm selective solder machine to do what you are talking about for several years now.

I would suggest investing in a selective solder machine as well. This has saved us on a ton of labor and headaches. The customized brackets for the wave is not cheap. I would first check auctions to save thousands...
