Try looking for paste contamination somewhere. Dirty stencil, printer table or fixtures. Placement table/fixtures. Reflow belt/conveyer. Reuseable finger covers, if used. Try covering the fingers with Kapton tape during different stages of the proc

Looks like you have a great wetting of your paste :). Once body has been in contact with molten solder, the package could suffer damages on the body(outside and inside) and on the circuitry inside. It is considered a defect. I have seen that before a

| Bob | I have had problems with spotting on gold contacts for many years and have spent many hours working on ways to solve this problem. Once a source of the problem is found and corrected the next month another source will crop up (new operator o

I think I'd opt for a stencil with everything already cut and then tape it if that didn't screw up your stencil gasketing. Then you just have to define the process for adding the optional parts and you can decide to use those apertures or not.

Thanks, gentlemen. All points well taken, and some hit pretty close to home. Our pick-and-place programmer assures me that coplanarity isn't the issue because the machine won't (or can't) place parts beyond an acceptable criteria. It's an Amistar

I'd agree with getting a stencil fully cut, and taping the pads you don't want paste on. But, I'd also check with the people that will be doing the hand soldering to see what they prefer. Some people prefer soldering on bare pads, some prefer solde

Hi , Could you be seeing the nickel under the gold plating because you are removing some of the Gold with the Kapton Tape....?? You mean , the adhesive properties of the kapton tape will cause the gold plating on the gold finger to be somehow peel of
