Hi Bill, You should try pre-baking any such old devices prior to using on SMT Reflow. Refering to MSL-type3 guidelines could help in your case.

Mixing conformal coating and RTV

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 21 11:43:03 EDT 2005 | davef

We understand the problem of trying to coat over RTV. We have seen the same problem with acrylic and urethane coatings not wanting to stick to RTV. Some acrylics seem to be worse than urethane. Since this is a new product, may be you could pot your

Sounds like a epididymis! It depends on your paste chemistry. You can't just slap any old saponifier in there. Most water based cleaners evaporate the water and you have to remove the dried paste. It's a bit messy, maybe that's why your's is over

we are using solder paste WS609 and OM5100.Relow oven: forced convection type. For WS609 and OM5100, straight ramp up profile is suitable for low to medium thermal mass assemblies and preheating may be required for high thermal mass assemblies. How

I agree with Sr. Tech. If a product is good, no excusues that's good, but if a product is said to walk on water and it does not, I pretend that people having the bad experience to report it over here so that one can evaluate the problem. I say EVALUA

Solder beads and wave soldering

Electronics Forum | Mon Jul 10 09:25:47 EDT 2006 | nodlac

Here is a nugget from the Data Sheet... Wave Soldering: Excess moisture on the PCB during soldering may lead to random solder balling and poor wetting of some solder joints. IT IS IMPORTANT that the flux solvent carrier (water) is fully evaporated a

Water cleaning and Moisture Entrapment

Electronics Forum | Mon Dec 29 09:10:22 EST 2008 | stepheniii

It takes time for the moisture to penetrate into the body. I think the 5 years of ambient would be more the culprit than washing the boards. Especially since you are baking them after wash. Get a few of the ICs and put them loose on a board and put

Water cleaning and Moisture Entrapment

Thanks for the reply Stephen. The time factor sounds logical for moisture invasion during cleaning, probably why there's no articles showing concern about the process. I did try experimenting with some samples and believe it or not could not dupli

Ionic testing and No-Clean flux

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 04 09:23:21 EST 2000 | Casimir Budzinski

If No-Clean flux does not need to be cleaned, then why do I get readings of up to 27(ug NaCl/sq in) on boards that are not washed, up to 23.4(ug NaCl/sq in) on boards washed with DI water only and from 1.2 to 10.1(ug NaCl/sq in) on boards washed with

Ecofree 303 conductive and corrosive?

Hi Joane, this flux is primarily designed for wave soldering. I think that manual soldering it´s possible. Certainly it´s very hard to dispensing correct amount of the flux. Succinic acid is one from all ingredients of this flux. If you have this
