Cost will first and foremost be your deciding factor here.

Cant go wrong with Electrovert or Soltec. TD has some decent stuff. As far as beoing comaptible, most all mfgrs are now making only pbfree comapatible. it seems to cost about $8 - 12k to have existing pots coated with pbfree compatible materials.

Hello James, The most cost effective system you could buy is an offshore manufactured system. Most of the technology is the same, as well as, the design and construction as the big brands. Take a look at http://www.thermproeng.com

James, Looks like you are getting a lot of advise from Electrovert to Ersa and Seho to some imported Chinese machine. There are more optsions today than ever, I should know I offer one (www.ietechnology.net). What are you trying to accomplish with your machine. You can spend $30k - $120k (or more if you like). How much support will you need? Where are you located? These are the things to consider. Beware of some Chinese Imports, there are plenty, but not many that have very much of an install base of more than just a few (we have 50+ in the field). Without selling you our machine, I'd be happy to give you soome background on any other machines you come across. My biggest question is, are you considering selective?

Sorry James but Im no sales man. Just becasue i answer peoples questions with some answers they don't want to here makes me a bad guy well thats fine. And if you don't want my advise thats fine to. I know people pick on us smarter guys and I can deal with that. Some of us go the extra mile to learn as much as possible and most folk don't lik e that cause there lazy. If you don't want my advise fine but if you want a good wave solder machine for no leads then you should look at Soltec. There machine are designed with no leads in mind. You may need t talk to a REAL sales guy to deteremind what kind of fluxer you need since it all depends on your flux.

Hi James. I do not work in sales. I am a ME in CM....for over 18 years. If you do not have resources to evaluate wave machines should we assume you have limited support resources for your current machines? IF this is the case buying an entry level machine is the last thing you want. You need time tested designs, large installation base and proven support to provide comfort in your capital decision. I would immediatly rule out chinese machines. For my money Electrovert makes some fantastic equipment. Some other equipment makers listed above...well...are overrated. IF you want less pain in the future you are going to have to do your homework NOW. And remember you DO get what YOU paid for.

So It happens that we are having an installation crew here working on our second wave solder machine. It is a Vitronics Soltec that we bought for lead free processing. I personally used Ekra and vitronics and Electrovert at other companies. I believe the you get what you pay for and the service, trainig and support you get from Vitronics tipped the scales in their favor fo us. I have seen an Selective Solder mchine ( maybe 6745 model ? small footprint ) equipped with a custom fixture designed to simultaniously solder all the TH parts on that particular assy. It had tilting capabilities as well and a inspection/debridging tool that can be programmed ahead of time. I thought it was a really nice machine. We have a much larger Selective Solder still from Vitronics that has both LF and leaded capabilities and does an excellent job for us and the speed is not a big concern as the volume does not warrant investment in wave solder pallets
