There's a pretty detailed description how to install LanMan client on the OS/2 machine. Some links are broken, but you can find alternate sources on the net.

NetBEUI protocol is NOT installed by default in the WinXP installation proces. Instead, look here for explanation how to install it:

After that, it should be pretty trivial. You will be able to access XP folder(s) from GSM but not vice versa (all transfers will be initiated from GSM) but that should not be a problem.
Please note that I did not use "NetBIOS over TCP/IP" but used native NetBios protocol. It is simpler to implement, but no routing is possible...
By the way, what is the configuration of your machine (USOS version etc.)?
