Cored Solder Wire & Supplemental Flux compatiblility

I have always been under the impression that you want the flux make-up of your cored wire and supplemental flux (squeeze bottle) to be as identical/compatible as possible.

I was just looking over a manufacturers datasheet for a resin-based cored wire. They suggest a resin/rosin free supplemental flux. Wouldn't it be more desirable to use a resin-based supplemental flux in this case to keep the results consistent and more predictable?

Thank You.

Just skip the squirt bottle and your problem is solved. Cored solder has enough activity for proper wetting. When occasionally extra activity is needed use a fluxpen.
