On newer equipment it is not needed, guessing at 5 years old or newer. However we still see the on parts. If you have room to put them on it will not hurt anything. If you do not have room for them you should be ok leaving them off.

In current conditions with new high tech machines, the requirement for having local fiducial marks can be dropped. Plus, using the fiducial marks of course will improve the mount accuracy, but will increase the cycle time. Compare both conditions & see which one is better.
