SMT Line and vibration next door | 13 January, 2020

We are planning on installing an SMT Line in our building. We own 75% of the building, there is a crossfit gym next door and they tend to drop weights where we can feel the vibration. Should we be concerned with the SMT Line being set up on that end of the building.

I wouldn't think the vibration from weights dropping would be significant enough to effect the SMT machines. If you are concerned, look into placing vibration dampening pads under the machine feet. you don't need anything fancy, just neoprene pads would suffice.

Interestingly, there is some evidence vibration is beneficial to the printing and reflow processes; adding in paste release and component self centering.
