Red-E-Set Support Damaging Double Side Components on DEK | 29 September, 2020

Has anyone experienced issues with the Red-E-Set support system damaging components on double sided boards?

How's the setup, its advertised as quick?

Any issue with misprints using this support system?

I used it years ago on an old semi-auto printer and thought it was alright for the application and asking price. Set it up once with a sample board, which takes maybe 5 minutes, and you should be set for the entire run.

I still prefer something more like Grid-lok or Quiktool if you're using it in an inline printer and have the cash to spend.

Red-E-Set Support Damaging Double Side Components on DEK | 5 October, 2020

Hi Smitty,

I am currently using Manual Lock Red-E-Set, and never had problems with damaged components. Although at my last workplace, we used VarioGrid, and encountered same problems as you.

I suggest checking the pins on the support tools(s) you have, one or more might be blocked. Usually it can happen because solder paste is getting in the pin's hole.

Misprints can happen because of the setup or program, not specifically because of the support (maybe if they are not set up corectly).

Not sure if you are looking to buy one, or you're encountering problems with them. I would definitely recommend using Red-E-Set.

Cheers, Tom
