Being a user or former user of both machines (user of Mycronic MY600, former user of Essemtec Scorpion used for adhesive dispensing), it really depends on the need of your business. We use the Mycronic jet printer for multiple processes: SMT printing, rework, edge connector soldering amongst others.
Is it only needed for jet printing or for adhesive dispensing too? I personally have much better experiences regarding jet printing with Mycronic (MY600 - single dispenser what we have; MY700 is double). A much quicker and better categorized footprint manager than Essemtec. Also, programming takes a lot less. Maintenance wise, Mycronic is the winner again as most of the parts needing maintenance are plug and play, however Essemtec is more reliant on the correct cleaning of the dispenser and the valve (training advised). I would recommend having spare dispensers regardless of manufacturer due to maintenance time involved if you've got the money. Cost wise I see Mycronic cheaper (maintenance costs, machine issues, consumables) and I see Mycronic more reliable for jet printing in terms of print quality. If I would be you, I would go with Mycronic just because there is already a Mycronic machine in your company, and it would be ready for use without investing in further training and support. You may also be able to use the same footprint library too, whereas if you get an Essemtec, you build from scratch and you train from scratch.
