SMT relay panasonic TX2SA-5V reflow problems | 24 May, 2024

In our company we are facing the problem at our SMT line with component: relay panasonic TX2SA-5V.... Very frequently there are missing or lifted components(chips or small SOT) nearby of theses relays after reflow. Did someone faced to simmilar issue?

No direct experience with these parts but to me, the air flow from top side fans are creating a wind tunnel that is causing the smaller parts to fly. Can you adjust the speed of these fans? Review the paste - review the component mount height. We faced an issue with a larger tqfp part that would shift in the oven and we corrected the fault by pushing the part more into the paste. Test to push a bit more into the paste to keep the smaller parts onboard.

We use the same component on many different products, never faced a similar issue. However, things I would check are: - stencil thickness (ideally 125um) - additional Z move on the parts around the relay (as suggested by kumarb) - check the packages on the pick and place systems if all parts (chips, SOTs, the relay) match their physical Z height - check you temperature profile in oven + fan speeds (as suggested by kumarb)

Possible solutions after all above are OK: - if your facilities permit, use SMT glue on problematic parts - turn your PCB 90/180 degrees on the line to see if anything changes

Hopefully this helps.

Regards, Tom
