We've been running a trusty MPM UP2000 printer for a few years now but the 30 year old technology is starting to struggle a bit. It didn't come with snuggers and the vacuum hold down just doesn't cut it for some of the finer pitch stuff we're now doing.

So I'm looking at replacement secondhand options less than 8 years old.

We have Yamaha placers so I was originally thinking of a YCP-10, but it's actually quite a deep machine which will make access trickier in our installation location. I'm surprised to learn that the UP2000 is actually a relatively compact machine!

I was suggested to go for a DEK as they have been very popular (especially in Asia), which means there is plenty of spares and support available. The NeoHorizon is a little more compact that the previous model, so could be a good option.

Is there anything else I should be looking at?

DEK is quite popular and getten replacement parts is easy in Asia. At this time we have EKRA which is really good for operators (I think, EKRA have the best GUI) and the mechanical design is much simplier as DEK designed. If I were you I will check some of X4-X5-Serio EKRAs too - especially Professional versions.

I can't speak for the others, but we have a pair of DEK's. They do a good job for us. The tech that came out to do a PM for us (we got them both second hand and wanted a thorough checkup) was very knowledgable as well.
