Soldering on gold

We are currently assemblying several different board type with gold plated lands with varying results. Can any of you that has successful experience in this area give me some pointers. What paste do you use? Do you use the recommended reflow profile? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We use only three solder pastes in the shop with only three reflow profiles (one each inert or atmosphere depending on certain factors). SMQ 62 and 92 plus a special? Delta type - are our pastes.

We've done nothing special but for properly qualifying suppliers and gold electroless over nickel over copper coating specifications. However, we do get some thin nickel on rare occassions causing problems that have been covered within this forum and currently on the IPC Technet forum.

If you have time, go and visit Alpha Metals web-site, www.alphametals.com, there is a technical paper on soldering onto Ni/Au pad, mainly focused on failure analysis. It may be useful to you.
