Benchtop SMT rework equipment

Benchtop SMT rework equipment | 18 September, 1998

I am looking for a small benchtop rework station for replacing bad QFP132's as well as a variety of SO8 to SO20 components and 1206 chips. I've been looking into some IR heating equipment as well as hot air tools, but have little experience with such equipment. Hand soldering is starting to get real annoying and tedious. I am interested in anyone's opinion regarding a useful and economical bench tool for this type of work. Thankyou, Jim

Jim: You might want to take a look at Austin American Technology Corp. They manufacture a bench top hot gas rework station that might be interesting to you. You can contact Jon Phelps at (800) 454-2448 sure Jon can give you tons of info. Wayne

We currently use OK industries MTR 4000 rework stations, and I've got no complaints. -Ben
