We are currently using a Mydata TP18 UFP to do placements on boards 520 mm x 460 mm. The table is expandable and Mydata was boasting of a custom table that was 820 mm x 540 mm. One drawback of our machine is that it is a stand alone machine, so hand transfer of these large boards can be tricky. Also the placement rate isn't that great. In our case we have been trying to get a Fuji IP3 to replace the Mydata, but the bosses are holding down the capital expenditures this year. Good luck, Doug

We manufacture a tabletop pick and place machine called the Placemax. Its standard work area is 12" x 24" however, we have offer other size work ares as well. Upto 36" x 48" which should be more than enough for your backplanes. Our Standard model (12"x24") sells for $19,975.00 and the expanded work area sells for an additional $15,000.00. All our models will place components from 0402 through fine pitch. You can contact Lee Anderson at (719) 475-9110 or placemax@aol.com

You should talk to Universal about modification of their standard GSM platform. The GSM is a great machine.
