Hello markt, If you're only running at 85%, you've got some things to look into! First, it's good you know that you're operating at 85% with some measurables that help you determine that. Now, the easiest methodical way to improve productivity on SMT production equipment including printers and dispensers is to perform machine capability studies on each piece of equipment. The machines must be evaluated to see if they are meeting accuracy and repeatability specifications that are set forward by the equipment manufacturers. Machines that operate out of specification will produce defects and will not operate at optimum efficiency! Only through statistical evaluation with adequate and sound data can machines be adjusted back to within original specifications. These techniques require a highly accurate measurement system with glass plates and glass components that remove production material variation so that the actual machine capability can be measured and optimized. Other areas that can certainly effect machine utilization are preventive maintenance (PM) routines and equipment calibrations. These two items should be run on a regular basis with results tracked for long-term sustaining performance improvement. Even manufacturers standard calibration procedures have been found to inadequately repair machines and bring back to original specification. Only can independent and objective test methods determine the accuracy and repeatability performance of equipment with unbiased evaluation and reporting. Let me know if you require additional assistance. Thanks!
